BINDI Irwin stars in an ominous new documentary about climate change, with the 15-year-old being given star billing by the film’s independent maker. Irwin’s mother, Terri Irwin, tweeted a link to the trailer for Surviving Earth (see link above) — a film which says it is trying to “prevent mass suicide” through raising awareness about climate change and overpopulation.
But it is the tone of the independent project — with its confronting soundtrack, images and scare tactics — which has raised the eyebrows of some in the film industry. The documentary’s director Peter Charles Downey describes the film in its trailer: “Basically, Surviving Earth is about trying to prevent the mass suicide of humanity,” he said.

While all these issues have been widely addressed before, Downey offers a solid comprehensive overview in a film that combines imaginative graphics and visuals with invigorating interviews of, among others, author Paul Ehrlich and Bindi (daughter of Steve) Trwin.
