55 MINUTES BROADCAST VERSION, please scroll down for 80 Minutes Directors Cut.

NARRATED BY EMMA THOMPSON. Filmmaker David Lavallee brings us up close and personal with shale gas fields, tar sands and the huge pipelines that represent the far edges of resource extraction in the 21st century. What are the consequences of no-holds-barred energy acquisition? What are we doing to the planet and ourselves?

Filled with compelling and vivid footage you won’t see elsewhere, the documentary film To The Ends Of The Earth takes us on a journey to see for ourselves what is happening and what people are doing to fight back. From the frontiers of the Arctic to the Alberta tar plains to our own Colorado River, so-called “unconventional” extractions are shattering boundaries and changing forever the connection between the earth and the lives dependent on it.

Sink or Swim: Learning the Crawl in the Maldives

$39.00$99.00

EDUCATIONAL DIGITAL DOWNLOAD: For self-hosted school servers $400 (PURCHASE a download above).

Over 350,000 people live 4 feet above sea level in the island republic of Maldives, yet most never learned to swim. National Geographic “ocean hero” Jon Bowermaster organized a learn-to-swim camp there to teach 50 third graders and 20 of their burka-clad mothers how to swim. In a place more threatened by global climate change and rising sea levels than almost anywhere on the planet, it is important that its residents understand what is at risk. Diving into the ocean is a big first step.

The event brought together scientists, musicians, activists and actors in a scripted night onstage inviting the governor to join the anti-fracking majority in his home state. In California and other regions affected by drought, agriculture is suffering from a lack of water and farms are being abandoned at an alarming rate. But some people have developed solutions to capture the rains that DO fall. In this state and in many other dry regions around the world, land restoration helps water penetrate healthy soils and in turn increase crop yields. This film explores the work of Erik Ohlsen, Geoff Lawton and other growers, permaculture designers and educators, showing how intentional design can benefit both humans and nature.
